We welcome you to our restored gite located in the heart of Buis-les-Baronnies, a small village in Provence.
What we offer
We offer group accommodation, which means you will meet other people with whom you will share the room and the bathroom. Our rooms hold 2, 3 or 5 people in double, single or bunk beds.
We also have a self-contained room on the ground floor for wheelchair users and those who are not so keen on stairs!
Each bed is prepared with a fitted sheet, a pillow case, and a blanket. You will need to bring additional bedding (sleeping bag/liner) and your own towel. Alternatively, you can rent these from us.
Our Gite
Climbers, hikers, cyclists or tourists are welcome to stay with us for one night or more. We welcome you between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
Our place is self-catering: we have everything you need to cook your evening meal or your breakfast in the group kitchen. There is a supermarket at the end of the street or you can go out and eat in one of the many restaurants of the village.
You can relax in our little courtyard or in the lounge where you will find books, boardgames, and information on local activities.
We ask that you vacate by 10:00am. If you are staying more than one night, you can leave your belongings in your room but you cannot stay in the gite between 10:00am and 4:00pm. For cyclists, we have a designated bike shed.
We can accommodate up to 20 guests and our gite is non-smoking.
Animals are not allowed in our gite.
Activities
Hiking: Buis is a stage on the GR9 National Trail or on the Tour of the Baronnies Provençales Trail, but it can also be the departure point of many circular walks.
Climbing: there are more than 300 tracks in different sites near Buis (all levels, all sun directions); some of which are more than 100m high on the Saint-Julien rock.
Cycling: Buis being one hour's drive from Mont-Ventoux, it is possible to cycle there or to enjoy the beautiful routes up and down the many passes in the region.
Mountain or electric bikes: bike shop opposite our gite, where you can hire bikes from Cyril at Buiscyclette.
Via ferrata: four tracks have been created on the Saint-Julien rock (different levels); you can hire equipment in the village and hire a guide if necessary.
Trail running: there are many routes to choose from, and a special yearly event, the Trail de la Drôme, in April.
Paragliding: there are two sites above Buis-les-Baronnies. Thirty minutes'drive away, there are the Mévouillon sites where you will find a paragliding school and several take-off areas (all wind directions).
Apart from outdoor activities, Buis-les-Baronnies and the local area offer many tourist, artistic, and cultural activities (musical events, traditional fairs, weekly markets). In the summer months, there is an open-air swimming-pool in the village. In mid-August, there is the yearly Jazz Festival where you can enjoy free concerts twice a day and a concert with an admission fee in the evening.
